What's the Luke Challenge?
The Luke Challenge is a 24-day journey through the Gospel of Luke to prepare our hearts for Christmas. We invite you to read 1 chapter of Luke with us daily from December 1st to Christmas Eve.
But be on guard, so that your hearts are not weighed down and depressed with the giddiness of debauchery and the nausea of self-indulgence and the worldly worries of life, and then that day [when the Messiah returns] will not come on you suddenly like a trap. - Luke 21:34 (AMP)
Day 21 Takeaway
Three weeks into the challenge and it flew by! I am so grateful for the brief moments of pause we are sharing together, especially reading on days like today. "The nausea of self indulgence" - yikes, that one really got me. One translation says, “don’t get dulled by parties and drinking and shopping.” Is that the usual Christmas season in a toe-stepping nutshell? The closer Christmas gets, it seems the more anxious it feels out there.
Not us. Not this year. Today, I encourage you to rest and read chapter 21 with us. The very One who came as a baby in a manger is coming again as our victorious King. He said it Himself. Be ready.
