What's the Luke Challenge?
The Luke Challenge is a 24-day journey through the Gospel of Luke to prepare our hearts for Christmas. We invite you to read 1 chapter of Luke with us daily from December 1st to Christmas Eve.
In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents. - Luke 15:10 (NLT)
Day 15 Takeaway
Oh the joy of Heaven is almost too good to be true.
When I got married, I started playing a game and the rule was simple: whoever says “I’m sorry,” first wins. I was so good at this game my spouse didn’t even know we were playing for years. It may be a silly game to keep me humble. I never knew how much I liked being right until I had to admit when I was wrong. I know it sounds silly. Think about it though…if we can actually bring joy to Heaven, why would we not sprint to the altar and repent quickly any time we stray?
Why does thinking we are right sometimes feel so good that we won't dare to concede that there is a possibility we may be wrong… isn’t that what pride does? No wonder it comes right before a fall. This Luke Challenge is helping me remember how vital sincere humility is - not just for my own good, but for the joy of Heaven.
